Abstract:

The disordered deforestations increasingly threaten native species, many of them with high potential for cultivation. Among them, stands out the gabirobeiras, plants belonging to the family Myrtaceae, genus Campomanesia, whose fruits are highly appreciated by the regional population. The genus has six species recorded for the state of Goiás, some of them are difficult to identify. The study aimed to 1) the morphological characterization of the genus Campomanesia at different stages of development; 2) record the occurrence of these species in the survey region and 3) produce a taxonomic key of identification for the studied species. Samples were collected during the reproductive period of the species, being made herborization material and collected seedlings for planted. Samples recorded in herbal material were also used for enrichment of species. The morphological descriptions were performed using a stereomicroscope with attached camera. The structures described and photographed were: leaves, flowers, fruits, stems, petioles, stalk and buds from adults individuals and, hypocotyls, cotyledons, eophylls, metaphylls, petioles, buds of seedlings and young plants. It was possible to identify and describe three species, C. adamantium, C. pubescens and C. xanthocarpa. The individuals showed a homogeneous distribution pattern. Some characteristics were essential for the distinction of the species. The taxonomic key shown to be practical and simple, contributing to a correct taxonomic identification of species.
