Abstract:

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMFs) constitute a key functional group of soil organisms exerting important influence on soil aggregation processes. The extensive development of its external hyphae creates a structural skeleton that approximates and adheres soil particles, as well as the production of glomalin, a hydrophobic glycoprotein that acts on the formation and stabilization of aggregates. The present work aimed to evaluate the contribution of AMF inoculation on aggregate stability, influence on microbial activity and the interference of cultivation successions on the AMF community of a Cerrado Red Latosol. The study was conducted in a greenhouse at the Federal University of Goiás - UFG for 300 days. The design was completely randomized in a 4x2x2 factorial scheme, where the treatments consisted of the combination of four cultivation successions (Mombaça grass; B. ruziziensis/soybean; sorghum/soybean; styling/soybean); inoculation with G. macrocarpum (absence and presence). Cultivation successions altered the AMF community, increasing their soil diversity. The successions using legumes favored the highest percentages of mycorrhizal colonization. Inoculation was efficient to increase aggregate stability index, carbon content of microbial biomass, total and easily extractable glomalin, acid phosphatase activity and total organic carbon in the soil. Regarding inoculation, Mombaça grass presented reduction in shoot dry matter production, B. ruziziensis and sorghum did not benefit, and styling legumes and soybean showed increased production.
