Abstract:

Good quality seeds are fundamental to succeed in the productive pastures implantation. Pelletization is an option to improve the initial development of seedlings, and consists of adding vehicles to the seeds, giving rounded shape and greater mass, facilitating planting. The literature concerning pelletizing nutrient materials is rare and no description of methodology for germination and growth evaluation has been found. With the general aim of developing technology for field use related to pasture formation, the present work was developed. Brachiaria brizantha seeds, pelleted with Silicate, Thermophosphate, Agricultural Plaster, Superphosphate (ST) and Mono Ammonium Phosphate (MAP), in different doses, with and without zinc were placed to germinate in Styrofoam trays, germ-paper, pots and box sand. Germitest role was considered not indicated to evaluate germination. Despite assessing germination, litter box deteriorates very fast, trays and pots were considered adequate. Although each material behaves differently, effects of materials and dosages were verified, affecting germination rate, germination speed, shoot and root dry matter production, potassium and zinc content, not verified for Manganese. and zinc. The shoot growth was influenced by the treatments, and in the treatment based on MAP, 3: 1 + ZN, there was an increase of 186% compared to bare seed. A storage effect was also observed, reducing the germination rate of pelletized seeds, mainly in MAP and ST.
