Abstract:

In the aim to evaluate the behavior of forage sorghum cultivars in Jataí, Goiás municipality, using the analysis of agronomic parameters and bromatological characteristics of fresh material. The experiment was carried out in the 2011/2012 crop, at the Experimental Farm of the Federal University of Goiás - Jataí Campus. The treatments consisted of five forage sorghum hybrids: 1F 305, BRS 610, BRS 655, Nutrigrain and Volumax, distributed in randomized blocks with four replications. Agronomic characteristics were evaluated: plant height, number of days to occur 50% of flowering, stem diameter, total production of green and dry matter, percentage of dry matter of stem, green leaves, dead material, reproductive structure and grains and number of days to harvest. The ensiling was carried out in experimental 10 liters minisyls and the opening was performed 30 days after the ensiling. In fresh material and silage were determined dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, ash-corrected neutral detergent fiber and protein, acid detergent fiber, hemicellulose mineral matter, ether extract, total carbohydrates and non-fibrous carbohydrates and specifically silage, ph, ammonia nitrogen and titratable acidity. The obtained data were submitted to the analysis of variance at 5% of significance and the averages compared by Tukey Test at 5% of probability. The hybrids Volumax, 1F 305 and BRS 655 showed better results when evaluated for agronomic characteristics and chemical composition. Hybrids Volumax and 1F 305 showed better results when evaluated for bromatological composition and silage characteristics.
