Abstract:

Cerrado's adoption of the no-tillage technique, it's interesting the formation of vegetation cover that presents low decomposition speed. It's also intended that the species chosen be capable of suppressing weeds, especially those ones difficult to control, as well as being easily controlled by herbicides adopted in desiccation. Aiming to meet these demands, two tests were developed. In the first trial, the soil cover index and dry biomass accumulation provided by Urochloa ruziziensis cv. Kennedy, U. decumbens cv. Basilisk, U. brizantha cv. BRS Piatã and without Urochloa (spontaneous vegetation). Urochloas showed higher soil cover index than spontaneous vegetation, higher shoot dry matter accumulation and weed dry mass reduction, in which U. ruziziensis stood out from the other species due to the fast establishment and domain of space. In the second trial it was verified the desiccation efficacy provided by glyphosate herbicide dosages, evaluated at different dates after application. In conclusion, U. ruziziensis is effectively controlled in a shorter time and lower glyphosate dose when compared to the other Urochloas species surveyed. Moreover, it was found that the glyphosate doses adopted in the research were not sufficient to efficiently control U. brizantha cv. BRS Piatã.
