Abstract:

Our aim was to evaluate the productive and qualitative characteristics of three genotypes of millet submitted to three heights of cut and the four successive cuts. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design, with repeated measures in time, with four repetitions, in a 3 x 3 factorial arrangement with three cultivars of pearl millet (ADR 500, LAB 1542 and LAB 1838) and three heights average cuts (60; 80 and 100 cm). The evaluations were performed along four months, of evaluations by cuts on the same plots. The results showed that the genotypes of millet represented a good alternative to pasture. These materials were equivalent in relation to the production of dry mass and bromatological compositon. The quality of forage is affected by the handling of the cutting height, this way it is recommended that the millet genotypes are handled in the high of 60 and 80, to associate forage production and quality, and more that the increase of cutting ages for the reduces the content of PB. The successive cuts affected differently the genotypes of millet of protein fractions. Because it is material genetically improved genotypes of millet provided high degradability.
